Ghostfield Mining Town

I know it's been forever, but we're still here and as busy as ever!

I thought I would share some pictures from February. On the recommendation of our Italian mother, we made our way out to the Superstition Mountains, and spent a rainy Sunday at Ghostfield Mining Town

I had been here as a child, but forgot how much fun this little town could be! It was an amazingly rainy day and we had so much fun riding the train around town, touring the mine and witnessing the sheriff's gun fight. Here are some pictures from our day.

Busy Month

This has been a very busy month! There’s a lot going on right now and hopefully we will know some big news soon… but in the meantime, husband celebrated his 28th birthday on January 29th!

Here are some pictures from his little party. I cooked for two days to make the night special and it was very worth it. We ate with good friends, (the best kind of friends actually), played games and sang happy birthday. I think my amazing husband was satisfied with his special day.

Yesterday...

Yesterday I cooked lunch for husband because he worked so hard to fix my car. Sometimes I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I often wonder if everyone is this happy their first year of marriage, but then again, sometimes I think it also might just be us and the fact that we're kind of made for each other.

I made fried rice - well, as fried rice-ish as veggies and brown rice can be with a bit of soy and chili sauce, but we still liked it...

Sunday Night

Cait and Matt came over for dinner on Sunday night. They are kind of our go-to couple for Sunday night dinner and games, not to mention Caitlin is one of the best sisters ever! We made gluten free spaghetti and salad and the pups were super excited to have guests over. They had a hard time when we were away.

We experimented with the new camera as well...

After dinner we played some poker and Matt took home the pot. For some reason we all thought he was bluffing and kept throwing in quarters…

Christmas in New York

Steve and I just returned from a wonderful holiday in New York, where we experienced a plethora of adventures with the Italians. It was so nice to see our growing nieces and spend the holiday with the Caprara’s.

Mama and Papa Caprara took the family to Wintuk at Madison Square Garden – during the huge New York blizzard! Granted, I don’t think we would have attempted to leave the house if we knew the gravity of the storm, but I sure am happy that we did… We all loaded onto the train to Grand Central and braved the walk to MSG holding hands, and with our heads down. We couldn't see above three stories and the wind was overpowering, but we all loved the experience! It was my first blizzard and a great adventure. It was especially exciting when we returned to Valhalla to find our car plowed and stuck in the parking lot. We were just about to panic and call the police when we flagged down a snow plow driver and came away unharmed. Whew! We really didn't want to walk home... I also got to spend a girls day out in Manhattan and loved seeing the Rockets in Radio City's Christmas Spectacular. We really do get spoiled when we go to New York.

Christmas day was a huge highlight for me… Besides eating more food than I thought possible, my amazing husband got me a Canon Rebel EOS XS. I got to take tons of pictures and checked another item off my wish list. Don’t I have the most excellent husband?! Sometimes I can’t believe how lucky I am.

We got to meet up with the karate crew, our boyfriend (and former best man) and many great friends, besides spending lots of time with the family. We really do love and miss the East Coasters. No one's family is quite so lovely and generous as ours. That goes for both the East and West Coasters!

It's Raining!

It's raining today, which is wonderful because it's really beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! For some reason I am extra excited about the holidays this year and the cool weather just amplifies the feeling… However… not everything about the rain is so pleasant. Today when I got home from work and peaked my head out the back door, expecting to see Einstein and Maverick huddled beneath the porch, I found them frolicking in the rain. Naughty doggies! Aren't dogs supposed to hate rain? When they saw me they ran over and attempted to welcome me home by jumping into my arms. Well, this was not acceptable, so I had to dry them down with a towel and let them in the house. Gotta love that wet dog smell. Steve will love to walk into a nice smelling home after a long day at work. Poor husband. I think I've become immune at this point (my terrible head cold is helping with that). Here are some pictures of those mischievous pups.

Hello

This is our first married persons post. It’ll be the big eight months in just a few days. This first year of matrimonial bliss is literally flying by… I can’t believe how fun and easy it is being married. Steve and I both love it and are so thankful that we found each other.

This year also marks our first Christmas as husband and wife. It’ll be extra special as we will be celebrating in New York with our east coast family – or as I lovingly call them – the Italians (husband laughs at me every time I say this. But I am trying to embrace my new culture as a certified Italian). We can’t wait to see everyone and play with our beautiful little nieces. It’s been a very busy couple of weeks so we are especially excited for sleeping in and spending some time together. Its funny how little we seem to see each other now that we’re married. Hmmm... Maybe we better work on that. Here are some pics from our last time in New York this past Spring. Isn't our family wonderful?!? We can't wait to see them soon!
